Why does 613 blonde hair sometimes look brassy so quickly, and how can I keep it looking fresh?

Great question—this happens to a lot of people working with 613 blonde hair! Since 613 blonde is a very light, almost platinum shade, it doesn’t have much underlying pigment to balance tones. That means it can easily pick up warmth from things like heat styling, product buildup, hard water, or even exposure to sunlight. Over time, that’s what causes the brassy or yellowish look.

To keep 613 blonde hair looking fresh, the key is toning and gentle maintenance. A purple shampoo or toner can help neutralize yellow tones—just don’t overuse it, or the hair might start looking dull or slightly purple. Once or twice a week is usually enough.

Furthermore, try to limit heat styling or always use a heat protectant. High temperatures can alter the tone of light-colored hair faster than you’d expect. Deep conditioning is another must, since lighter hair tends to be more porous to dryness, which can make brassiness more noticeable.

If you’re dealing with hard water, a shampoo once in a while can help remove mineral buildup that affects color. And finally, storing your hair properly (if it’s a wig or extensions) away from direct sunlight can make a big difference.

With consistent care, 613 blonde hair can stay bright, cool-toned, and beautiful much longer
