I’ve been noticing more and more small shops in my neighborhood putting up murals on their exterior walls, and it made me wonder how much of an impact that really has on people walking by. Do murals actually help businesses stand out and pull in new customers, or is it more of a “nice to have” kind of decoration? I’ve always thought it could be a smart way to catch attention, but I’m curious if anyone here has seen it make a real difference in practice.

From my own experience running a coffee shop a few years back, the mural we commissioned completely changed how people interacted with the space. Before, it was just another storefront on a busy street. After we had a large colorful mural painted on the side wall, people started taking photos, tagging us on Instagram, and even using it as a meeting spot. That extra attention translated into more walk-ins and, eventually, more regulars. The key is making sure the artwork aligns with your brand story, not just picking something random because it looks cool. I remember looking at some examples online and came across this page that talks about mural painting services in Short Hills: mural painters short in hills nj. They explain how murals can reflect the character of a business, which I think is spot on. In my case, the mural wasn’t just decoration—it was like free marketing that kept working day after day without me having to put extra money into ads.

I don’t own a business, but as someone who walks a lot around the city, I can say murals definitely make me notice a place more. Sometimes I even stop to take a photo or just check out what kind of shop it is. Without the mural, I probably wouldn’t even glance at it, so from a customer’s side, they do make a difference.
