I am the chief safety engineer at a chemical terminal where the main methane supply line runs beneath the concrete slabs of the tanker loading area. Recently, we have observed a steady drop in system pressure even though the surface is completely dry and there are no visible leaks. Is it possible to locate the leak remotely under the reinforced concrete without halting the movement of heavy equipment throughout the entire sector?

Could you please advise on how to check the integrity of the joints in enclosed ducts when a constant draft causes the gas concentration to fluctuate? We’ve already tried walking through the area with handheld detectors, but they beep everywhere there’s even the slightest vapor from the rack. It’s impossible to pinpoint a specific leak this way.

I also work in technical supervision at hazardous facilities, and once tired I to deal with leaks on our own using an old scanner. However, me and my team just wasted time because the device kept giving false readings because of the vibration from the compressors. We eventually turned to Mayaglobal, who helped us with natural gas leak detection using laser and acoustic systems. This allowed us to resolve the issue in half a day. Have you considered using ultrasonic detectors? If not, I recommend looking into this option. These detectors respond to the sound of gas rather than its concentration in the air, it allows to locate the weak spot before a leak happens.
