I am studying in Toronto, but I am thinking of applying for a master's degree in Ottawa and want to go there for an open house. Budget and time are important to me because studying and working part-time do not leave much room for long trips. I also want to know if it is realistic to travel there and back in one day without staying overnight, and what is the best mode of transportation for this.

If you leave early in the morning by train, you can be in Ottawa by lunchtime, visit the campus at your leisure, and return to Toronto in the evening.
