Platinum wedding rings vs gold: which one should you choose?

Hi all,

I’m currently in the process of choosing wedding rings, and I’m a bit torn between platinum and gold. Both have their own appeal, but I’m trying to think long-term since this is something I’ll be wearing every day.

Gold has always been the traditional choice, especially in many cultures, but platinum seems to offer some unique advantages. For instance, it’s naturally white and doesn’t require rhodium plating like white gold. It’s also denser and more durable, which sounds ideal for something meant to last forever.

While researching, I found some really elegant platinum wedding rings that look both modern and timeless. I especially like how they maintain their color and develop a subtle patina over time rather than losing material.

On the flip side, platinum is more expensive, and I’ve heard it can get scratched, although the metal doesn’t actually wear away. That makes me wonder whether it’s a better long-term investment compared to gold, which might need more maintenance.

For those who have already made this choice, what influenced your decision? Do you think platinum justifies its higher price tag? And how does it feel in everyday use compared to gold?

Any insights would be really helpful!
