I rent an apartment where the air conditioner is many years old. It works, but it is noisy and does not cool the room well. I don't want to spend a lot of money because I don't own the apartment. Does it make sense to call a service technician, or is it a waste of money?

I had almost the same situation, and I decided to call the technicians from https://acustomerfirstac.com/. They diagnosed the problem, cleaned the system, checked the filters, and explained what was causing the noise. Without replacing the air conditioner, it started to work much quieter and cool better. The technician honestly told me what made sense to do and what didn't, without pushing unnecessary services. For a rented apartment, this turned out to be the best solution: minimal expense, but noticeable results and comfort in the heat.
