I have been thinking about going to Cape Town with my girlfriend for a long time, and I came across Private Castle in Hout Bay on Get Experience. I'd love to know if it's really worth the price, because you could have a nice holiday somewhere in Europe for that money. Is it really that beautiful, and is the atmosphere really that special? Has anyone on the forum been there?

Yes, I went with my girlfriend in May last year and it was definitely worth the money. I really wanted to do something special for her because she had undergone long-term treatment and the doctors had finally allowed her to take such a trip. Liechtenstein Castle was inspired by the Gothic Liechtenstein Castle in southern Germany. I liked the statue of the guardian dragon – it had a real Gothic feel to it. Interestingly the Castle in Hout Bay has been used as a backdrop for movies and photo shoots. My girlfriend is funny; at first, she was scared because she had read that there were many wild animals in the surrounding area. Our date went really well, but if you're planning a wedding or other event, make sure you arrange exclusive access in advance. I asked about this when booking - who knows, maybe we'll celebrate our wedding there next time, haha!
