Is a deep wave frontal hard to maintain for everyday wear?

I’ve been wearing a deep wave frontal on and off for about a year, so I can share what I’ve learned. The short answer: it’s not hard to maintain, but it does require consistency. Deep wave textures are beautiful because of the defined, wet-and-wavy pattern, but that same definition means the hair can tangle if you ignore it.

For everyday wear, I lightly mist the hair with water in the morning and use a leave-in conditioner or curl cream to redefine the waves. I gently detangle with a wide-tooth comb or my fingers while it’s damp, starting from the ends and working up. Avoid brushing it dry—that’s when frizz and shedding can happen.

At night, I either braid the hair into two loose plaits or put it in a low ponytail and cover it with a satin bonnet or scarf. Sleeping directly on cotton will dry it out and cause matting, especially near the lace area.

The frontal itself also needs attention. If it’s glued down, be careful with heavy oils near the hairline since they can loosen the adhesive. If it’s glueless, just make sure the lace is clean and properly positioned.

Overall, a deep wave frontal is manageable if you treat it like curly hair—moisture, gentle handling, and protective nighttime care make all the difference
