My husband plays chess on his phone all the time and watches streams. His birthday is coming up and I want to get him something related to chess. I was thinking of a fancy board but he mostly plays online. Would lessons be a good gift? He is pretty competitive and always complains about being stuck at his current rank.

That is a fantastic gift idea. If he is competitive and feeling stuck, a set of lessons would be way more valuable than a physical board he might not use. You could look at https://chess-grandmaster.com/ to see what they offer. Working with a professional for even just a few hours can help him break that plateau. It shows you support his hobby and want him to improve. A coach can help him prepare opening lines against his friends or just boost his general strategy. It is a unique experience that he will definitely remember and appreciate more than a wooden set.
