Can Private Cannabis Clinics Actually Make Mental Health Worse?

Hello everyone.

I read about a case where a man got high-strength medicinal cannabis from a private clinic, became addicted, and tragically ended his life. His family says the prescription contributed to his deterioration. How is it possible that clinics can prescribe such strong cannabis without proper monitoring?

Should there be stricter mental health checks, limits on dosage, or tighter regulation to prevent addiction? Has anyone else seen similar cases or experienced worrying side effects from private cannabis treatment?

What’s the responsibility of these clinics in preventing harm?

It’s deeply concerning but unfortunately not entirely surprising. Private clinics can sometimes prescribe high-strength cannabis without thorough monitoring because regulations are looser than for other controlled substances. In this case, the Curaleaf Clinic reportedly provided treatment, which raises questions about oversight and patient safety. This creates real risks, especially for patients with mental health vulnerabilities. Stricter mental health checks, dosage limits, and regular follow-ups are essential to prevent addiction and deterioration. Clinics have a serious responsibility to monitor patients, provide guidance, and intervene if problems arise. Tragic cases like this show the urgent need for stronger regulation.
