There is no need for expensive equipment to capture breathtaking night sky photos. With the best cheap camera for night sky photography, magnificent results can be achieved by knowing a few techniques. First, pick a camera under budget that allows manual controls and good performance at low light; such are indispensable features in the realm of astrophotography. Second, place the camera on a sturdy tripod. Camera shake will ruin the long exposure images. In manual mode, open your lens aperture wide, usually at f/2.8 or even faster if it's possible. Choose high ISO values, around 1600 to 3200, and keep shutter speed between 15 and 30 seconds to record enough light while avoiding star trails. Use manual focus and focus on a bright star or distant light. Shooting images in RAW will give you more flexibility when it comes to editing in post. With lots of patience and practice, gorgeous pictures of stars, the Milky Way, and beyond can be achieved even with the cheapest night sky camera.
