Manglik Dosha in Kundali

Manglik Dosha, also known as Mangal Dosha or Kuja Dosha, is an important concept in Vedic astrology related to marriage and relationships. It is believed to be formed when the planet Mars (Mangal) is placed in certain houses of a person’s birth chart (kundli), specifically the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house. These houses are considered sensitive in matters of domestic life, emotional stability, and marital harmony, and the fiery energy of Mars is thought to influence them strongly.

Mars symbolizes strength, courage, passion, ambition, and assertiveness. While these qualities can be positive and empowering, an excess or imbalance of Martian energy may lead to aggression, impatience, conflicts, or dominance in relationships. Because of this, Manglik Dosha is traditionally associated with delays in marriage, misunderstandings between partners, frequent arguments, or stress in married life. In extreme interpretations, it is even linked with separation or health issues of the spouse, though modern astrologers view these outcomes more cautiously.

It is important to note that Manglik Dosha is not inherently negative. Much depends on the overall birth chart, planetary aspects, and the strength or weakness of Mars. In many cases, the effects of Manglik Dosha are reduced or canceled by beneficial planetary placements, known as dosha cancellation (neecha bhanga or Manglik dosha nivaran). Additionally, when both partners are Manglik, the energies are believed to balance each other.

Today, Manglik Dosha is understood in a more balanced and psychological way, emphasizing self-awareness, communication, and compatibility rather than fear. Remedies, counseling, and thoughtful matchmaking are often suggested to harmonize Mars’ intense energy and promote a stable, fulfilling married life.
