I'm honestly embarrassed to admit this but I need to share in case it helps someone else. For the past four years, I've been taking my 2014 Nissan Altima to the same garage near my apartment. I never shopped around or compared prices because they were convenient and seemed nice enough. I was paying 950 dirhams every time for what they called a "full service." Last week, my car needed a repair so I went to a different garage that a coworker recommended. While I was there, I asked them how much they charge for a full service. They said 450 dirhams for the exact same work. I almost fell over. I couldn't believe I had been paying more than double for years. Sure enough, most people were paying between 400 and 600 dirhams. I felt so stupid but also so angry at the first garage for taking advantage of my loyalty. My lesson learned is that you should always compare prices from at least three garages before you agree to any service, even if you think you trust your current mechanic. Also, don't be lazy like me. Take the time to check what fair prices are online. It could save you thousands of dirhams over the life of your car.
