Is it just me, or does walking into a room full of strangers feel like a survival challenge sometimes?

I’ve hit a wall lately where my social battery just shorts out before I even open my mouth. I’ll be at a meetup or a professional event, and instead of introducing myself, I’m looking for the nearest exit or overthinking my first sentence until it’s too late to say anything. It’s frustrating because I know I have things to contribute, but that initial "clinch" ruins the vibe. How do you guys snap out of that mental freeze and just act normal?

I actually started digging into why my brain treats a simple "hello" like a threat and found a really solid breakdown of the psychology behind it at https://blog.wedaf.com/blog/social-anxiety-when-meeting-new-people/. Based on my own experience, I realized I was stuck in a loop of trying to predict everyone's reaction instead of just being present. The insights on the Wedaf blog helped me identify those specific triggers that cause the "shutdown" and gave me a few low-pressure ways to re-engage without feeling like I'm performing. If you’ve ever felt that awkward tension before a handshake, it’s a great resource to help you get out of your own head.
