Accessing the Get Info menu, you can get what you want:

  1. Find the file or folder you want to get its path.
  2. Right-click it to show the context menu.
  3. Click Get Info and the file path Info window will be open.
  4. In the General section, you can see the file path next to Where.
  5. Select the file path and press Command + C to copy it elsewhere.
Or, you can use Finder to obtain a file’s path:

  1. Open a Finder window randomly.
  2. Click Go > Go to Folder in the top menu bar and a new window will pop up.
  3. Clear the content in the search box.
  4. Drag the file or folder you want into the search box and you will see the file path.
  5. Select it and press Command + C or right-click to choose Copy.
Or, if you prefer command line, you can do the following to get the file path:

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Find the file and drag the file to the Terminal window.
  3. You’ll see the full file path and press Command + C to copy it.
When you right-click on any file, you will see a context menu popping up, which you can use to copy the whole file or folder on your Mac. It can also be used to copy a file path on Mac, though the path in the menu is hidden.

  1. Locate the file or folder you want to copy its file path.
  2. Right-click on it and a context menu appears.
  3. Press the Option key and you will see Copy X as Pathname. (X is the name of your file or folder.)
  4. Keep holding on to the Option key and click Copy X as Pathname. Then you get the file path and you can get it for further work.
