Hey everyone,
If you use public transport in Abu Dhabi, you know how essential the Hafilat card is. Running out of balance mid-journey can be a hassle. I’ve put together a quick guide on the different ways to check your balance and recharge, focusing on the official online portals and apps.
The Official Online Portal (Quick Balance Check) Visit hafilat portal hafilat card balance check
The most straightforward way to check your balance from a computer or phone browser is through the official Abu Dhabi Mobility (ITC) portal.- Visit the Official Website: Go to the official Hafilat/Darb portal.
- Locate the Recharge Section: On the homepage, look for and click on the "Recharge Card" button. You don't necessarily need to log in for a simple balance check via this method .
- Enter Card Number: You will be redirected to a page where you need to enter your 16-digit card serial number. You can find this number printed on the back of your Hafilat card .
- View Balance: Click "OK" or "Submit," and your current available balance will be displayed on the screen .
Checking via the "Darbi" Mobile App
For a more feature-rich experience, including trip history and managing multiple cards, the official Darbi app is the best choice. This replaces the older Hafilat app.- Download the App: Get the Darbi app from the official app stores.
- Register/Login: Create an account using your email or UAE Pass, or log in if you already have one .
- Add Your Card: Once logged in, look for the option to add a new card. You can enter your 16-digit card number manually or use the camera to scan it .
- Check Balance: After the card is added, your balance will be visible on the main dashboard or in the "My Cards" section .
Offline Methods (No Internet Needed)
If you don't have internet access, you still have options:- Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs): Located at major bus stations and some shopping malls. Tap or insert your card, and the screen will display your balance. You can also recharge here with cash or card .
- On the Bus Reader: When you tap your card on the validator upon boarding, the screen often flashes your remaining balance briefly after the beep .
- Retail Outlets: Many authorized shops (like Lulu or SPAR) and Customer Happiness Centers can check your balance for you .
Quick Recharge Tips
- Online: You can recharge directly through the same online portal or the Darbi app using a credit/debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay .
- Minimum Balance: Remember, you need a minimum balance of AED 10 on your card to travel .
- Processing Time: Online recharges are usually instant, but it might take up to 2 hours to reflect on the card. If it doesn't update, tap your card on a bus validator or a TVM to sync the data
