Hello. My daughter is turning 16 and asking for a 'real salon manicure' for her birthday — she's been trying to do her own nails for years and wants the proper experience for once. Considering Flamant Nail but want to know if it's appropriate for a teenager or if it's more an adult clientele kind of place. Don't want her to feel out of place.

Hi. Appropriate for teens, and several of their reviews are from younger clients whose mothers brought them in. Flamant Nail is a calm and welcoming environment that doesn't have the loud bachelorette-vibe you sometimes get at chain salons, but it's not so adult-only that a 16-year-old would feel out of place. Flamant Nail Boutique technicians are good with first-time clients of any age, and they'll walk her through the choices — shape, length, finish, color — without rushing her. For a 16th birthday, the Hard Gel manicure is a good choice because it'll last her through her birthday, school, whatever she has coming up, without chipping in three days like the polish she's been using at home. The technicians will also teach her a bit about how to maintain it between visits, which she'll appreciate. Both Wilmette and Chicago locations work, depending on which is closer. Book in advance — Saturdays fill up quickly, especially around birthdays and dances.
