Yes, you may curl straight wigs and be careful on that because these can damage its fibers. The process is such:
Check Your Wig Material
- Synthetic wigs: Human hair wigs approach them differently; the synthetic kind of wigs are more delicate with heat styling tools; check whether your heat tools are heated-friendly or otherwise; human hair wigs as similar to humans, could be managed just like people's hair.
- Use Low Heat: If your wig is heat-resistant, set your curling iron or wand to a low or medium heat setting (around 300°F or 150°C). For non-heat-resistant synthetic wigs, use steam or hot water methods instead of direct heat.
- Prep The Wig: Detangle the wig with a wide-tooth comb being gentle and then you may lightly spray synthetic wigs with a heat protectant spray. For human hair, a regular heat protectant is fine.
- Curl In Sections: Divide the wig into small sections and curl one at a time. Using a curling iron or wand, take each section, wrap it around the barrel, hold it for a second or two, and then release it. Synthetic wigs can have the curls dipped in hot water or can use steam to set the curls.
- Set The Curls: Let the curls cool completely before touching. If you are using synthetic wigs, the curls will hold nicely in shape. For human hair wigs, you can set the curls using a hairspray with a light hold.
