Thinking about getting a PS4, what are my storage options. Can I use a external HDD to install games?

Thanks

PS4 consoles are usually 500Gb or 1Tb. I would recommend the 1Tb version. However the HDD is very easy to replace in the PS4, it's designed for it. So you can buy the cheap 500Gb one and immediately replace it with a 2 or 3 Tb HDD, even an hybrid one if you really want high performance.

You should avoid an external HDD, I don't think it works well.

You also have the choice between the PS4 Slim and the PS4pro: unless you already have a 4k screen, I don't think you have a real advantage of buying the PS4pro. Graphic performances are slightly better but it's more expensive, larger, heavier, more noisy. Of course if you have a 4k screen, that's the one you need.
